Message Here is a side shot... You can kind of see them here. The rotor size is the same front and back. 12.95" rear and 13" front

I used the 13" z1 kit up front. The kit was completely bolt on, popped right on no modifcations necessary to anything! I have stainless steel braided brake lines.

The car came stock with aluminum 30mm calipers. I am not sure how closely you guys have been following my posts but I have posted a lot about wondering the differnces between the iron and aluminum calipers.

My personal verdict was aluminum calipers are better for my application. I tried out both the aluminum calipers and a set of iron calipers I had laying around. Main difference I noticed was pedal feel. The iron calipers stiffened the brake pedal up so much that it felt like I was pushing my foot up against a wall. I have FULLY bled my aluminum calipers and it feels as if I do not have to use as much pedal force to get the same braking effect. The pedal is looser but feels more "effective." I think this has something to do with the master cylinder as well. I believe Nissan used a bigger master cylinder for the aluminum calipers, possibly if I had used the smaller late model master cylinder with the aluminum calipers the pedal probably would have felt too loose.

My conclusion is, use whatever brake calipers your master cylinder supports. If you have a late model 300zx that is ment to have iron calipers/then use iron calipers. And likewise if you have an early model that is ment to use aluminum calipers/then use aluminum calipers.

Maybe possibly you can get the nice stock pedal feel in a late model using aluminum calipers if you swap in the bigger early model master cylinder?

Anyways, I use a z1 13" front rotor kit, master cylinder brace, stainless steel brake lines.

I had my front and rear aluminum calipers rebuilt. In the rebuild I had them powdercoated matte black and on the front I used stainless steel brake pistons instead of the stock rusting steel brake pistons. I used an oem rebuild kit for both front calipers.

The rear's I did in similar fashion, powdercoated matte black. I could not source a stainless steel piston for the rear so I ended up coating the exposed parts of the brake piston with a high temperature 1200deg coating to prevent rust. Also the oem rebuild kit for the rear is NLA so I used the Centric kit which worked perfectly.

During the rebuild of all the calipers front and rear I took this as an opportunity to buy all brand new Nissan OEM hardware to use putting the calipers back together. So I changed out all of the pins/clips/and screws/bolts for brand new Nissan oem replacements.

I went with carbotech 1521 wildcat street brake pads. I love these pads! They do not have a rusting brake powder! The brake dust I produce is now black and it does not rust. Also the initial bite is CONSIDERABLY better over the old pads I had.

I have not really noticed any fade but I haven't really pushed them in a racing scenario.

The rear I used the 330mm royalty performance kit and stainless steel lines.

I am running just a regular prestone brake fluid in the car for right now. Next year I plan to drain all of that out and use some motul brake fluid.
